They were already beat up a little bit before, but they would get soaked in the snow or rain. I put this on and it definitely reduces the amount of water that penetrates through the leather. I'm not sure how well it worked on the gore tex, not sure how much to put on, and its hard to get the whole tongue. Darkens the leather about to how dark it is lightly wet, if that makes sense. Only reason not 5 stars is because of the lack of gore tex instructions. has about enough for 2 light pairs or 1 heavy application and maybe a touch up in the future. The oil applies well and after a few months of use on my motorcycle leater seat, jacket, and saddlebags i am pleased.
